PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITIES

At Osende Dance Arts – Flamenco School, performing is always optional—but for those who choose to, it can be one of the most inspiring and rewarding parts of the flamenco journey.

Our Fall, Winter, and Spring courses are for the most part- choreography-based. While we also offer technique workshops, it’s through learning a full choreography—structured around a specific palo (flamenco style)—that students truly begin to understand the form. Flamenco is not just about learning a routine; it’s about connecting to flamenco’s rhythm, structure, and expression in a way that builds artistry and deeper cultural understanding. This method is standard practice in flamenco schools worldwide.

Our unique choreographies are yours to perform once you learn them and are created specifically for each group.

These performance-focused courses build confidence, motivation, and community. They create real momentum in your learning, meaningful friendships, and memories that last a lifetime.

 Student Showcases

Twice a year—in December and June—students have the opportunity to share what they’ve learned in our seasonal showcases. These events are open to friends, family, and sometimes the wider community, and offer a supportive, celebratory space to perform alongside fellow dancers.

Showcases are short, focused, and followed by a relaxed social where we share food, conversation, and lots of photos.

Whether you choose to perform or not, participating in a choreography-based course helps strengthen musicality, memory, and connection to the art form in a deeply satisfying way.

Our unique choreographies are yours to perform once you learn them and are created specifically for each group.

For the Love of Flamenco (Performance Group)

For the Love of Flamenco is our school’s volunteer-run performance group, created for students who love to perform and want to take flamenco beyond the classroom.

The group appears at a variety of public events throughout the year—such as the Halifax Multicultural Festival, community celebrations, pop-up events, and more. Each performance is unique, with choreography length and casting adapted to the event, space, and dancer availability.

While priority is sometimes given to more advanced dancers, many of our performances are multi-level, welcoming a range of abilities and experience. What truly matters is your enthusiasm, preparation, and commitment.

There’s no official way to join—students will be invited throughout the year when opportunities arise. However, we do need your help to keep the group running smoothly!

Be Part of the Team

For the Love of Flamenco thrives thanks to the support and involvement of our amazing students. We’re always looking for dancers who are eager to:

  • Help organize rehearsals
  • Share upcoming events on social media
  • Be a point of contact for their choreography group
  • Find and suggest performance opportunities
  • Assist with photos, video, and behind-the-scenes tasks

  • This group is a great way to connect with fellow dancers, perform more often, and play an active role in our vibrant flamenco community. If you’re interested in helping out—on or off the stage—please get in touch with Maria. We’d love to have you involved!
